Crocheting a Shell Pattern with Chain Stitches





Introduction
The quantity of stitches is multiple of 14 + 5.
Read odd rows from right to left, and even rows from left to right.
Row Instructions
1st Row
3 chain stitches increase, double crochets to the end of row;
2nd Row
3 chain stitches increase, 4 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets;
3rd Row
3 chain stitches increase, 4 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets;
4th Row
3 chain stitches increase, 4 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets;
5th Row
3 chain stitches increase, 4 double crochets, * 7 chain stitches, fasten the chain in the base of the “shell” from the 3rd row, turn, 8 single crochets along the chain. Fasten the chain at the edging double crochet and make a “shell”. Make 7 chain stitches again, return to the base of “shell” from the third row, fasten the chain, turn, 8 single crochets along the chain, 5 double crochets*; repeat from * to *;
6th Row
3 chain stitches increase, 4 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets, “shell”, 5 double crochets;
7th Row and Following Odd Rows
Follow the same instructions as the 5th row;
8th Row and Following Even Rows
Follow the same instructions as the 6th row.
