Crochet Skirt with Belt and Straps Guide

You’ll Need

300g of mélange yarn (50% polyamide, 27% polyacryl, 23% cotton; 150m/50g);

Crochet hooks 4 and 5.

Note: Make skirt with crochet hook 4, straps – with crochet hook 5.

Used Patterns

Stripe of Arches

Work with straight and reversed rows according to scheme 1, which specifies 1 stripe in width and 2 initial rows + 2 pattern repeats in height.

Connecting Row

Connect the stripes of arches in the following way: * 1 single crochet in the 1^st stripe, 1 chain st, 1 single crochet in the 2^nd stripe, 1 chain st*; repeat from * to * until the stripes are connected at 30 cm from the set-up row. Then, proceed as follows: * 1 single crochet in the 1^st stripe, 2 chain sts, 1 single crochet in the 2^nd stripe, 2 chain sts*; repeat from * to * until the stripes are fully connected, finishing with 1 single crochet.

Pattern for Belt

Work with circle rows according to scheme 2 for the set-up row of the skirt. Make 1 pattern repeat upon 1 stripe of arches (= chain st of the set-up row + selvage double crochets of the 1^st-7^th rows). Start the 1^st circle row with 1 chain st instead of the 1^st single crochet, start all subsequent circle rows with 3 chain sts increase instead of the 1^st double crochet. Repeat the pattern x 5 times, with the beginning of the circle row in the 1^st pattern repeat. Change the chain sts increase to 1 single crochet or 1 double crochet in the next 4 pattern repeats, and finish the circle row with 1 slip st in the 3^rd chain st. Work with double crochets between the double crochets of the previous circle row, starting from the 3^rd circle row. Repeat 1^st-7^th circle rows x once.

Note

This skirt is composed of 5 parts arranged from up to down. Make the belt upon the set-up row after finishing.

Stitches Control

1 stripe of arches: width = 17.5 cm, height: 62 rows = 60 cm; width of the connecting row: 1^st-30^th rows = 1 cm, 31^st-62^nd rows = 2 cm, pattern for belt: 1 pattern repeat and 7 rows = 17.5 x 9 cm.

Instructions

Make 5 separate stripes of arches, 60 cm = 62 rows in height. Connect all the stripes, attaching the 1^st stripe with the 5^th stripe. For the belt, join the yarn to the 1^st set-up chain st of the 1^st arch and work using the pattern for the belt. Make the last single crochet of the pattern repeat in the 3^rd chain st increase of the 7^th row of the stripe of arches, and add 1 chain st above the connecting row. Finish your work at 9 cm height = 7 circle rows of the belt. For the strap, create a chain in 2 threads of yarn 160 cm long. Mark the center of one stripe of arches as the center of the front and draw the strap from/to the center of the front part through the last circle row of the belt.
