You’ll Need:

3 balls of Caron® Simply Soft™ (6 oz/170.1 g; 315 yds/288 m) (Contrast A O‑ White (39702));

3 balls of Caron® Simply Soft® Heathers™ (5 oz/141 g; 250 yds/228 m) (Contrast B Charcoal Heather (H9508));

Crochet hook 5.5 mm.

Size:

96.5 x 117 cm.

Stitches Control:

12 sc and 13 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Ch 144 (multiple of 10 ch + 4).

1st row: (RS). With A, 1 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 2 dc). *Ch 3. Skip next 3 ch. 1 dc in each of next 2 ch. Rep from * to end of ch. Do not turn. Pull long loop. Remove hook.

2nd row: (RS). Working in front of A, join B with sl st to skipped 2nd foundation ch of the first ch-3 sp. Ch 6 (counts as dc and ch 3). Working behind A, 1 dc in same sp as sl st. *Skip next 2 dc. Working behind A, 1 dc in 2nd skipped foundation ch of next ch-3 sp. Ch 3. Working in front of A, 1 dc in same sp as last dc. Working in front of A, 1 dc in 2nd skipped foundation ch of next ch-3 sp. Ch 3. Working behind A, 1 dc in same sp as last dc. Rep from * to end of row, ending at **. Pull long loop. Remove hook. Turn.

3rd row: (WS). Re-insert hook into A loop. Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in next dc. *Ch 3. Working behind B, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc 2 rows below (A row). Ch 3. Working in front of B, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc 2 rows below (A row). Rep from * to end of row. Do not turn. Pull long loop. Remove hook.

4th row: (WS). Re-insert hook into B loop behind A row. Ch 3 (counts as dc). Working in front of A, 1 dc in 2nd ch of the first ch-3 sp 2 rows below (B row). *Ch 3. Working behind A, 1 dc in same sp as last dc. Working behind A, 1 dc in 2nd ch of next ch-3 sp. Ch 3. Working in front of A, 1 dc in same sp as last dc. Working in front of A, 1 dc in 2nd ch of next ch-3 sp 2 rows below (B row). Rep from * to end of row, ending at **. Pull long loop. Remove hook. Turn.

5th row: (RS). Re-insert hook into A loop. Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in next dc. *Ch 3. Working behind of B, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc 2 rows below (A row). Ch 3. Working in front of B, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc 2 rows below (A row). Rep from * to end of row. Do not turn. Pull long loop. Remove hook.

6th row: (RS). Re-insert hook into B loop in front of A row. Ch 3 (counts as dc). Working in front of A, 1 dc in 2nd ch of the first ch-3 sp 2 rows below (B row). *Ch 3. Working behind A, 1 dc in same sp as last dc. Working behind A, 1 dc in 2nd ch of next ch-3 sp. Ch 3. Working in front of A, 1 dc in same sp as last dc. Working in front of A, 1 dc in 2nd ch of next ch-3 sp 2 rows below (B row). Rep from * to end of row, ending at **. Pull long loop. Remove hook. Turn.

Rep rows 3 to 6 for pattern until work from beginning measures approx 43" [109 cm], ending with B row. Fasten off.

Border

1st rnd: (RS). Join A with sl st to top right corner. Ch 2 (does not count as st). Work 103 hdc evenly across top of blanket. 3 hdc in corner. Work 127 hdc evenly down left side of blanket. 3 hdc in corner. Work 103 hdc evenly across bottom of blanket. 3 hdc in corner. Work 127 hdc evenly up right side of blanket. 3 hdc in corner. Join B with sl st to the first hdc.

2nd and 3rd rnds: With B, ch 2 (does not count as st). 1 hdc in each hdc around, working 3 hdc in corners. Join with sl st to the first hdc. Join A at end of 3rd rnd. Do not break B.

4th rnd: With A, ch 1. 1 sc in each hdc around, working 3 sc in corners. Join with sl st to the first sc. Join B. Break A.

5th rnd: With B, as 2nd rnd. Fasten off.
