How to Knit a Stylish Garment with Black Yarn and Colorful Patterns

50 (100) 100g of the same yarn, but in peachy, turquoise, violet, and green colors (each);

Stockinette Stitch:

In RS rows – knit sts, in WS rows – purls.

Wrong-side:

In RS rows – purls, in WS rows – knit sts. In circle rows – purls;

Striped Pattern:

4 rows (each) * peachy, black, turquoise, violet, black, green, black*; repeat from * to * x once (= 64 rows). Make black stripes with stockinette stitch, colored stripes – wrong-side pattern.

Stitches Control:

Stockinette stitch: 18.5 sts x 27.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Striped pattern: 18.5 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 84 (92) 100 sts with black yarn and work with stockinette stitch between selvedge sts. In 18 cm = 50 rows (19.5 cm = 54 rows) 21 cm = 58 rows from the set-up row, bind off 3 sts from both sides for arm-holes, 2 x 2 sts and 3 x 1 st in every 2^nd row, 2 x 1 st in every 4^th row = 60 (68) 76 sts. In 32 cm = 88 rows (35 cm = 96 rows) 38 cm = 104 rows from the set-up row, bind off the central 26 sts for neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 3 sts and 1 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row. In 34 cm = 94 rows (37 cm = 102 rows) 40 cm = 110 rows from the set-up row, bind off the rest 12 (16) 20 sts of shoulder from each side.

Left Front:

Cast on 6 (10) 14 sts and work with stockinette stitch between selvedge sts. At the same time, increase 3 x 2 sts and 7 x 1 st in every 2^nd row for rounding from the left side, 3 x 1 st in every 4^th row, 2 x 1 st in every 6^th row = 24 (28) 32 sts. In 18 cm = 50 rows (19.5 cm = 54 rows) 21 cm = 58 rows from the set-up row, make arm-hole from the right side, as for back. Bind off the rest 12 (16) 20 sts of shoulder at the height of back.

Right Front:

Make in symmetry to the left.

Sleeves:

Cast on 87 (92) 98 sts with peachy yarn and work with striped pattern between selvedge sts; then, work with stockinette stitch with black yarn. At the same time, decrease 12 x 1 st in every 6^th row for widening from both sides = 63 (68) 74 sts. In 48 cm (= 132 rows) from the set-up row, bind off 2 sts from both sides for sleeve cap, 4 x 1 st in every 2^nd row, 2 x 1 st in every 4^th row and 4 x 1 st, 1 x 2 sts, 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 4 sts in every 4^th row. In 59.5 cm (= 164 rows) from the set-up row, bind off the rest 21 (26) 32 sts.

Assembly:

Make shoulder and side seams. Cast on 290 (308) 326 sts with circular knitting needles and black yarn along the neck-hole and work with striped pattern in the previously described colors order, starting with 4 circular rows of stockinette stitch with black yarn and finishing with 4 circular rows of wrong-side pattern with peachy yarn. At the same time, for widening, increase 28 sts in the 27^th, 41^st, and 57^th circular rows = 370 (392) 410 sts. At 23 cm height of placket (= 64 circular rows), bind off the sts. Make sleeve seams and sew them up.
