How to Knit Cozy Booties with Wool Yarn

You’ll Need

30g of wool yarn (250m/100g);

10g of the same yarn, but black color (for sole);

Double pointed knitting needles 2.5.

Size of the Sole

4 x 5 cm.

Stitches Control

1 x 1 rib in 1 thread yarn: 24 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

In 2 threads yarn: 18 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Measurements

Sock height: 1.5 cm (4 rows);

Height of the bootie: 4 cm (12 rows);

Paw circumference along the upper edge of the bootie: 12 cm (36 sts);

Distance from the toe to boot top: 2 cm (6 rows).

Instructions

Sole

Cast on 7 sts with 2 threads yarn.

1^st and 2^nd rows: stockinette stitch;

3^rd row: 1 selvedge st, knit2tog, 3 knit sts, knit2tog, 1 selvedge st. Totally, 9 sts;

4^th-15^th rows: knit;

16^th row: 1 selvedge st, knit2tog, 3 knit sts, knit2tog, 1 selvedge st. Totally, 7 sts.

17^th row: bind off all the sts.

Boot Top

Cast on the sts in 1 thread yarn on 4 knitting needles.

1^st needle (heel): 6 sts, 2^nd needle (side) – 8 sts, 3^rd needle (toe) – 6 sts, 4^th needle (side) – 8 sts.

1^st row: stockinette stitch;

2^nd row: increase 3 sts for heel and toe, and 4 sts for each side;

3^rd-6^th rows: 1 x 1 rib. This is the height of sock.

Turn to the front part of the booties. Knit 6 rows on the 3^rd knitting needles – the distance from toe to boot top. Knit the last st of every row, catching the 1^st st from the knitting needle of the side part.

Now, make boot top on 4 knitting needles – 9 sts on each needle. You can knit with 1 x 1 rib or stockinette stitch.
