Instructions:
Dress:
The dress is knitted back and forth on a circular needle from mid front. Cast on 189-199-209-219 stitches (including 4 edge stitches each side = mid front, knitted in garter stitches throughout) on needle size 3 mm. Knit M.1 and continue in M.2. When the piece measures 22-31-33-35 cm knit M.3, at the same time decrease 79-69-65-61 stitches evenly on the first row (do not decrease over edge stitches each side) = 110-130-144-158 stitches. After M.3 finish the piece in stocking stitch – edge stitches in garter stitches and remember buttonholes on right front band, see above. When the piece measures 25-34-37-40 cm insert 2 marking threads, 28-33-37-40 stitches in from each side = 54-64-70-78 stitches between marking threads = back piece. Continue with 4 rows in garter stitch over 6 stitches each side of both marking threads (the remaining stitches in stocking stitch) = 12 garter stitches each side. On the next row cast off the middle 4 of these 12 stitches for the armhole and complete each piece separately.
Left Front:
= 26-31-35-38 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch with 4 stitches in garter stitches towards mid front and towards armhole. Cast off for the armhole at the side on every other row: 1 stitch 2-2-2-2 times = 24-29-33-36 stitches (continue with 4 stitches in garter stitches towards the armhole). When the piece measures 31-41-44-48 cm knit 4 rows in garter stitches over 12-13-14-15 stitches mid front (remaining stitches in stocking stitch). On the next row cast off 8-9-10-11 stitches mid front for neck, continue with 4 stitches in garter stitches towards mid front and decrease to shape the neckline on every other row: 1 stitch 4 times = 12-16-19-21 stitches left on shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 37-47-51-55 cm.
Right Front:
Like left front piece, but mirrored. Remember buttonholes on front band.
Back piece: = 50-60-66-74 stitches. Cast off for the armhole each side as described for the front piece = 45-56-62-70 stitches. When the piece measures 35-45-49-53 cm knit 4 rows of garter stitches over the middle 30-32-32-36 stitches (remaining stitches in stocking stitch). On the next row cast off the middle 22-24-24-28 stitches for neck = 12-16-19-21 stitches left on each shoulder. Continue with 4 stitches in garter stitches each side until the piece measures 37-47-51-55 cm and cast off.
Assembly:
Sew shoulder seams and sew on buttons.
Hat:
Size: 6/12 months – 2/4 years
To fit head circumference: 42-46 cm
Cast on 90-100 stitches on small circular needle size 3 mm. Knit 4 rows of garter stitches and continue in M.2. Knit 5-6 vertical repeats of M.2 and now insert a marking thread in the first stitch in each horizontal repeat = 9-10 marking threads. Knit 1 more vertical repeat of M.2 and decrease on the rows marked with an arrow in the diagram. Decrease as follows: slip the stitch before the stitch with marking thread as if to knit, knit together stitch with marking thread and the next stitch, pass slipped stitch over. Repeat this decrease in all horizontal repeats by the 3 arrows in the diagram, i.e. a total decrease of 54-60 stitches = 36-40 stitches left on needle. After the last round of M.2 knit 1 round in stocking stitch, at the same time knitting all stitches together 2 by 2 = 18-20 stitches left. Cut the thread and pull through remaining stitches. Sew tight.
