Step-by-Step Guide to Knitting with Symmetrical Stitches for Perfect Patterns

The quantity of stitches (sts) is multiplied as follows: 5 stitches + 2 stitches for the symmetry + 2 selvedge stitches.

Knitting Instructions

First Row (Wrong-Side)

1 selvedge stitch, * 2 knit stitches, 3 purls *, 2 knit stitches, 1 selvedge stitch; repeat from * to * to the end of the row.

Second Row (Right-Side)

1 selvedge stitch, * 2 purls, 2 knit stitches, slip 1 stitch without knitting, yarn behind work *, 2 purls, 1 selvedge stitch; repeat from * to * to the end of the row.

Third Row

1 selvedge stitch, * 2 knit stitches, slip 1 stitch as purl, yarn in front of work, 2 purls *, 2 knit stitches, 1 selvedge stitch; repeat from * to * to the end of the row.

Fourth Row

Repeat as the second row.

Fifth Row

Repeat as the third row.

Sixth Row

1 selvedge stitch, 2 purls, skip 2 stitches and make the 3rd stitch as a knit stitch, 2 knit stitches, slip stitches from the left-hand needle, 2 purls, 1 selvedge stitch; repeat from * to * to the end of the row.
