Instructions
Creating the Body of the Stocking
Starting in red yarn and make a magic ring and work 6 dc into the ring. Six sts.
Rnd 1: 2 dc into each st to the end. 12 sts.
Rnd 2: (dc in the first st, 2 dc in the next st) repeat to end. 18 sts.
Rnd 3: (dc in the first two sts, 2 dc in the next st) repeat to end. 24 sts.
Rnd 4-15: dc in each st to the end. 24 sts, change to white yarn at the end of this round.
Forming the Heel of the Stocking
This is worked back and forth in rows rather than working the whole round.
Row 1: dc in the first twelve sts. 12 sts (mark the next unworked red stitch with a stitch marker, this is where you will re-join the yarn later).
Row 2-11: ch 1, turn, dc in each st to the end. 12 sts.
Fasten off. Fold the white edge and sew together to make the back of the heel.
Re-join with red yarn to the first red stitch not worked on row 1 marked with a stitch marker.
Rnd 1: dc in the next twelve sts, work twelve dc evenly around the edge of the white heel. 24 sts.
Rnd 2-15: dc in each st to the end.
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
Making the Cuff
Make one in white yarn.
Ch 5
Row 1: dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next three ch sts. 4 sts.
Row 2-30: ch 1, turn, dc in each st to the end. 4 sts.
Ch 16, sl st in the same stitch at base of ch to form the hanging loop.
Fasten off and sew in place around the top edge of the stocking. Weave in and cut off any loose ends.
