Stitches: ch, sc, hdc, dc, fpdc, 2dctog.

FPDC = Yarn over, insert hook from the front side of the work right to left around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop (3 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (2 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (1 lp on hk)

Difficulty: MEDIUM

R1: With MC, ch71. Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (70sc)
Join with sl st in first sc to form a circle and start working in the round.

R2: Ch1, do not turn. Sc in ea st. (70sc)

R3: Ch3, do not turn. Dc in ea st. (70dc)

R4: Sl st bet next 2sts. Ch3.
Dc bet all other sts. (70dc)
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

Rs5-10: Rep R4.

R11: Sl st bet next 2sts. Ch3.
Continue to work bet sts. (2dctog) around to last st.
Yo, ins hook bet last 2sts.
Yo, pull thru 2lps (2lps on hook)
Ins hook in top of beg ch3.
Yo and pull through all lps on hook. (35 dec sts)

R12: Sl st bet next 2sts. Ch3.
Dc in sp bet all dec sts. (35dc)

Rs13-14: Rep R4. (35dc)

R15: Sl st bet next 2sts. Ch3. Continue to work bet sts.
(2dctog) around. Join with sl st in top fo beg ch3.

Fasten off leaving a length of yarn for sewing.
Using a yarn needle, weave through all sts on R15 and pull the opening closed.

BRIM

R1: Join CC with a sc in any unworked lp of the foundation ch.
Fpdc around dc directly below next st.
Sk that same st on the working row.
* Sc in unworked lp of next st.
Sk next unworked lp.
Fpdc around dc directly below sk st.
Rep from * around.
Join with sl st in first sc.

R2: Ch2, do not turn. Fpdc around ea Fpdc and Hdc in ea sc.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch2.

Fasten Off.

OPTIONS:

Make the beanie longer from top to bottom by repeating R4 extra times.

Leave the sc edge as the brim for the beanie look more plain.
