Materials needed:

Crochet Hook 4.5 mm;

Wine (DK) – 100% acrylic: 50 grams -124 m per skein.

Crochet ribbed hat size:

Adult: 53-57 cm

Gauge: 17-18 sts – 4 inches (10 cm)

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

hdc –half double crochet

hdc blo –half double crochet back loop only

sl st – slip stitch

sl st blo – slip stitch back loop only

st – stitch

dc2tog – double crochet two together

Crochet diamond hat pattern for women

Brim of the diamond hat:

Ch 12 or any other number.

Row 1: sl st in 2nd ch from hook, *hdc in next ch, sl st in next ch, repeat from * across.

Row 2: ch 1, sl st blo in the 1st st, *hdc blo in next st, sl st blo in the next st, repeat from * across.

Repeat Row 2 until ribbing reaches 43 cm. Join last row and the first one: ch 1, *insert the hook underneath the back loop of the fabric that is closest to you and through the chain of the first row on the other side, yarn over and pull it through both loops and stitch on the hook. Repeat from * till the end.

Turn ribbing right side out.

Body of the diamond hat

Round 1: Ch1, sc around the brim. *[One stitch per one row of the brim] – 3 times and [two stitches per one row of the brim] – once, repeat from * till the end. Join to the 1st sc with a sl st. (The final number is multiple of 5).

Round 2: ch 2. *Working into the same stitch, yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Skip next 2 stitches. Yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull though all 5 loops on the hook. Ch1. DC in 2 skipped stitches. Repeat from * till the end. At the very end pull up 5th loop from the st where is ch2 coming from. Ch1. DC in 2 skipped stitches.

Round 3: Working into the same stitch, yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, insert the hook into the ch-1 stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull though all 5 loops on the hook. Ch 1. 2 dc around ch-2 of the previous round.

*Working into the same stitch, yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Skip next 3 stitches. Yarn over, insert the hook into the ch-1 stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull though all 5 loops on the hook. Ch 1. DC in 2 skipped stitches. As you skipped 3 stitches, choose any two and work only 2 dc. Repeat from *. This hat is worked in spiral after, so there will be no sl st join at the end.

Shaping the crown of diamond hat:

The length of the hat before shaping the crown must be 20 cm.

Round 1: *Working into the same stitch, yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Skip next 3 stitches. Yarn over, insert the hook into the ch-1 stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull though all 5 loops on the hook. Ch 1. Dc2tog. Repeat from * till the end of round.

Round 2: *Working into the same stitch, yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Skip next 2 stitches. Yarn over, insert the hook into the ch-1 stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook). Ch1. Repeat from * till the end of round.

Round 3: ch1, hdc in each ch-1 space.

Cut the yarn leaving 15-20 cm tail. Using yarn needle, pick up all stitches pulling the needle back and forth gathering the crown. Carefully pull the tail and close the crown. Weave in all ends.
