280-500 yards of #4 worsted weight yarn

H 5.00 mm hook

Difficulty: Easy

Gauge: 12 st by 8 rows = 4 by 4 inches (can be checked while working the pattern)

Stitch Glossary: ch-chain, st-stitch, dc-double crochet, FPtr-front post treble crochet, BPtr-back post tr crochet, puff

Special Stitches:

FPtr- Yarn over twice. Insert your hook from the front around the back of the post of the current st and back around to the front. Yarn over and pull through. (Yarn over and pull through 2 loops)x3.

BPtr- Yarn over twice. Insert you hook from the back around the front of the post of the current st and back around to the back. Yarn over and pull through. (Yarn over and pull through 2 loops)x3.

Puff- (Yarn over, insert your hook into the designated st. Pull up a loop.)x3 Yarn over and pull through all 7 loops on your hook. Ch 1.

Foundation Double Crochet

Notes:

Ch 3 counts as dc.

Ch 1 after puff is to close the puff and does not count as an actual st.

Scarf is written in child size with the adult size in parenthesis.

If wanting to change colors like the picture displayed, change colors every 16 rows for child size and every 24 rows for adult size.

Color changes are best done on a Row 3 repeat.

Sizes: Child (50 inches long before fringe), Adult (70 inches long before fringe)

Pattern Instructions:

Row 1: Fnd dc 17(21). (17, 21 dc)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *BPtr around the next st. Puff in the next st. BPtr around the next st. Dc in the next st.* Repeat from * to * across. Turn [5 dc, 4 puffs, 8 BPtr (6 dc, 5 puffs, 10 BPtr)]

Row 3: Ch 3. *FPtr around the next BPtr. Dc in the top of the puff st. FPtr around the next BPtr. Dc in the next dc.* Repeat from * to * across. Turn. [9 dc, 8 FPtr (11 dc, 10 FPtr)]

Row 4-95(143): Repeat Rows 2-3.

Row 96(144): Repeat Row 2. Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends.

If desired, add fringe to both ends of your scarf.
