Crochet Lake Headband

Materials

3/4 skein Red Heart Gumball yarn (sample was made using the color “Rock Candy”)

I crochet hook.

Instructions

Follow the pattern below for the desired size. Do not change colors as directed. Just keep working in this fabulous yarn.

My band is 4″ wide. LOVE the width. The main pattern includes a note to repeat steps 4-5 until desired width. Yep, that’s what I did.

Child/Preteen

With white yarn (or choice of color) and I hook, ch 57, sl st in last ch to join in a circle. Make sure chain is not twisted. (56sts)

Ch 1, sc 14, sk 2, 5hdc in next st, sk 2, hdc 2, repeat 4 times, sc 14, sl st to join. (63sts)

Ch 2, fphdc, bphdc, repeat a total of 7 times, hdc in between posts of 2nd and 3rd hdc of 5hdc cluster from previous round and in between posts of 3rd and 4th hdc, 5hdc in space between 2 hdc from previous round, repeat a total of 4 times, fphdc, bphdc, repeat to end of round, sl st to join.

Change to black yarn. Ch 2, fphdc, bphdc, repeat a total of 7 times, 5hdc in space between 2 hdc from previous round, hdc in between posts of 2nd and 3rd hdc of 5hdc cluster from previous round and in between posts of 3rd and 4th hdc, repeat a total of 4 times, fphdc, bphdc, repeat to end of round, sl st to join.

Change to white yarn. Ch 2, fphdc, bphdc, repeat a total of 7 times, hdc in between posts of 2nd and 3rd hdc of 5hdc cluster from previous round and in between posts of 3rd and 4th hdc, 5hdc in space between 2 hdc from previous round, repeat a total of 4 times, fphdc, bphdc, repeat to end of round, sl st to join. Note: for a wider band, repeat steps 4 and 5 until desired width.

Ch 1, sc 19, hdc 3, sc 4, repeat a total of 3 times, hdc 3, sc 20. Finish off and weave in end.

Teen/Adult
