Crochet Headband Pattern Notes

The Headband is worked flat and then sewn together when it reaches the desired length (circumference).

You can adjust the width by chaining more or less, any even number.

You can adjust the headband’s length by working more or fewer rows.

I used a 4mm hook to make the headband slightly denser, as the moss stitch will stretch in length.

When checking the fit, make sure to make your headband approximately 2-3 inches shorter than your head circumference – this way, it will stretch for a comfortable fit.

Chain 20 for the width of the headband (or any even number plus approx. one inch extra for the turning chain).

Row 1: SC in the 4th Ch from hook, *Ch 1, sk 1 Ch, SC in next Ch, repeat from * across the row, ending with a SC in the last St.

Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. SC into the first Ch-1 space (the space between the SC stitches from the previous row), Ch 1, skip 1 stitch, SC in the next Ch-1 space. Repeat from * across the row. The last SC should be worked into the space between the turning chain (Ch 2) and the SC from the previous row.

Repeat row 2 until you have approximately 18-19 inches (46-50 cm). The headband, when worked in this direction using moss stitch, will stretch in length, so when checking the size, give it a gentle stretch and try it on to make sure the headband isn’t too large.

Once you’re happy with the length, simply sew the sides together and weave in any loose ends. Your crochet headband is ready to wear! I hope you enjoy making (and wearing) this easy headband pattern!
