How to Crochet a Festive Candy Cane

Materials Needed
You will need:
- Cotton DK weight yarn in white and red
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Wool needle
- Pipe cleaner
Stitches and Abbreviations
- Sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
Instructions
Starting in white yarn and making a magic ring:
- Work 6 dc into the ring. (Six sts)
- Rnd 1: (dc in the first st, 2 dc in the next st) repeat to end. (9 sts)
- Change to red yarn at the end of this round and start strip pattern: 2 rnds red, 2 rnds white, keeping colour changes to the back of your work.
- Rnd 2-36: dc in each to end.
- Rnd 37: (dc2tog, dc in the next st) repeat to end. (6 sts)
Fasten off. Stuff with a pipe cleaner and bend into shape. Sew closed the hole in the base.
Add a hanging loop if required.
