Starting the Scarf
Chain 16.
Row Instructions
Row 1: Work 1 single crochet (sc) in 2nd chain from hook, 1 sc in each remaining chain; (15 stitches)
Row 2: Chain 4, turn, skip first 3 sc, work 4 double crochet (dc) in next sc, * skip next 3 sc, 4 dc in next sc; repeat from * to within 4 sc of end, chain 1, skip 3 sc, 1 dc in last sc. (This is the right side of the work)
Row 3: Chain 1, turn, 1 sc in same place, 1 sc in chain-1 space, * 1 sc across row, 2 sc in last space.
Row 4: Chain 6, turn, skip first 2 sc, * yo (yarn over), insert hook in next sc, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * 3 times more, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook, chain 1 for eye, chain 3 more; repeat from * to within 2 sc of end, skip next sc, 1 dc in last sc.
Row 5: Chain 1, turn, 1 sc in same place, * 3 sc in next space, 1 sc in chain-1 eye; repeat from * across, ending with 3 sc in last space.
Pattern Repetition
Repeat rows 2, 3, 4, and 5 for pattern. Ending with row 5, do not turn.
Finishing Touches
Round 1: Work 3 more sc in the same place as the end of row 5. (Sc down the side of scarf, placing 2 sc in each space and 1 sc in the end of each row.) Work 3 sc in next corner, sc across bottom, repeat from ( to ) once; work 2 sc in next corner, sc across top of scarf, join with slip stitch to first sc of round 1. Do not turn.
