Supplies

  • RED HEART “Stardust”: 1 ball 1805 Blue.
  • Crochet Hooks: 4mm [US G-6] and 6.5mm [US K-10½].
  • Yarn needle.

Size

Headband measures 4” wide (including ruffle), the length is varied to fit.

Gauge

22 sts = 4”; 10 rows = 4” in double crochet using smaller hook. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Headband Instructions

Ch 18.

Row 1

Dc in 4th ch from hook (beginning ch counts as first dc) and in each remaining ch across, turn—16 dc.

Row 2

Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), skip first dc, dc in next dc, [ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc] 7 times working the last dc in top of turning ch, turn—9 dc and 7 ch-1 spaces.

Row 3

Ch 3, dc in first ch-1 space, 2 dc in each of next 6 ch-1 spaces, 2 dc in space between last dc and turning ch, turn—16 dc.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until piece, slightly stretched, fits around head (covering ears). Sew or slip st last row to first row to form a ring.

Round Instructions

Round 1

With Right Side facing and larger hook, join yarn with sc in end of Row 2, ch 5, sc in end of same row, *ch 5, sc in end of next row, ch 5, (sc, ch 5, sc) in end of next row; repeat from * around, ch 5; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.

Repeat around other side edge.

Finishing

Weave in ends.
