Joining with Single Crochet

When instructed to join with sc, begin with a slip knot on the hook, insert the hook in the stitch or space indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook.

Granny Square - 5 Sided

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, with White, ch 5, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 3 dc in the ring, ch 2, [4 dc in the ring, ch 2] 4 times; join with sl st to first dc. (Join all rnds in this manner.) (20 dc) Finish off White and weave in ends.

Rnd 2: With right side facing, join Green with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in the same sp, ch 1, * (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next sp, ch 1; rep from * 3 times more; join. (40 dc) Finish off Green and weave in ends.

Rnd 3: With right side facing, join White with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in the same sp, ch 1, 4 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, * (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in the next sp, ch 1, 4 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * 3 times more; join. (60 dc) Finish off White and weave in ends.

Edging

Row 1: With right side facing, join Green with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, sc in each dc and sp across to next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 8, sl st in last sc made (hanger), fold in half across the row worked, matching remaining sides, working through both thicknesses, sc in the same corner, sc in each dc and sp across to the 'toe', sl st in last ch-2 sp. Finish off and weave in ends.

The Bow

- Cut a 10" strand of each color. Thread through the center of the block (Rnd 1) and tie in a bow.
