Mastering Cable Stitches in Crochet: A Beginner's Guide

The quantity of stitches is a multiple of 4 plus 3.

1st Row: 1 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across, turn;

2nd Row: Chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), *skip the next single crochet, 1 double crochet (dc) in the next 3 single crochets, yarn over, with the hook in front of the work, go back and insert the hook from front to back into the skipped stitch before the 3 double crochet group; yarn over and complete the double crochet (Cable stitch); repeat from * across, ending with a double crochet in the last stitch, turn;

3rd Row: Chain 1, 1 single crochet in each double crochet across, turn.

Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows to continue the pattern.
