Cable Knitting Techniques
Cable 2 Back (C2B)
Slip one stitch onto a cable needle and hold it to the back, knit one stitch, and then knit the stitch off of the cable needle.
Cable 2 Front (C2F)
Slip one stitch onto a cable needle and hold it to the front, knit one stitch, and then knit the stitch off of the cable needle.
Set-Up Rows for Cable Patterns
The quantity of stitches must be a multiple of 6.
Set-Up Row 1 (Right Side)
Using yarn A, knit all stitches.
Set-Up Row 2
Using yarn A, purl all stitches.
Pattern Rows
1st Row
Using yarn B, knit 2, slip 2, *knit 4, slip 2; repeat from * to the last 2 stitches, knit 2.
2nd Row
Using yarn B, knit 1, purl 1, slip 2, purl 1, *knit 2, purl 1, slip 2, purl 1; repeat from * to the last stitch, knit 1.
3rd Row
Using yarn A, knit 1, perform C2B, perform C2F, *knit 2, perform C2B, perform C2F; repeat from * to the last stitch, knit 1.
4th Row
Using yarn A, purl all stitches.
Repeat rows 1 through 4 to achieve the desired cable pattern.
