Introduction to the Crochet Pattern

The quantity of stitches (sts) is a multiple of 4 + 1.

Row Instructions

Row 1

4 double crochet (dc) in the 5th chain from the hook, skip the next 3 chains, *4 dc in the next chain, skip 3 chains, repeat from * across, ending with 2 dc in the last chain, turn;

Row 2

Chain 1 (counts as the first single crochet (sc)), skip the first dc, 1 sc in each dc across the row, 1 sc in the top turning chain, turn;

Row 3

Chain 3 (counts as the first dc now and throughout), 1 dc in the first stitch, skip the next 3 sc, *4 dc in the next sc, skip the next 3 sc, repeat from * across to within the last 2 stitches, skip the next sc, 1 dc in the turning chain, turn;

Row 4

Chain 1, skip the first dc, 1 sc in each dc across the row, 1 sc in the top of the turning chain, turn;

Row 5

Chain 3, skip the first 2 sc, *4 dc in the next sc, skip 3 sc, repeat from * across, 1 dc in the top of the turning chain, turn.
