You’ll need:

2 balls of Caron® Simply Soft® (6 oz/170.1 g; 315 yds/288 m) in Gold color (39782) Contrast color A;

1 ball of the same yarn, but in white color (39701) Contrast color B;

Crochet hook 5 mm;

Tapestry needle;

1 yd [.9 m] of ¼" [0.65 cm] wide ribbon;

19 – ¾" [2 cm] white buttons.

Size: 3-4 years old.

Stitches control: 13 sts x 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”).

Note: Dress is worked in rows from top down.


Instructions

Ch 3 at beg of row counts as dc. With A, ch 62.

1st row: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 60 dc.

2nd row: Ch 3. 1 dc in first dc. 1 dc in each of next 5 dc. *2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 5 dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 70 dc.

3rd row: Ch 3. 1 dc in first dc. 1 dc in each of next 6 dc. *2 dc in next dc.1 dc in each of next 6 dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 80 dc.

4th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in first dc. 1 dc in each of next 7 dc. *2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 7 dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 90 dc.

5th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in first dc. 1 dc in each of next 8 dc. *2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 8 dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 100 dc.

6th and 7th rows: Ch 3. 1 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each dc to end of row. Turn.

8th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 14 dc. Ch 5. Skip next 20 dc (armhole). 1 dc in each of next 30 dc. Ch 5. Skip next 20 dc (second armhole). 1 dc in each of next 15 dc. Turn.

9th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 14 dc. 1 dc in each of next 5 ch. 1 dc in each of next 30 dc. 1 dc in each of next 5 ch. 1 dc in each of next 15 dc. Turn. 70 dc.

10th to 14th rows: Ch 3. 1 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each dc to end of row. Turn.

15th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in first dc. 1 dc in next dc. *2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 105 dc. 16th to 39th rows: Ch 3. 1 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each dc to end of row. Turn. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Back edging: With RS facing, join A with sl st to bottom right corner. Ch 1. Work 1 row of sc evenly up to top right corner. Fasten off. With RS facing, join A with sl st to top left corner. Ch 1. Work 1 row of sc evenly down to bottom left corner. Fasten off.

Bottom, neck and back edging: With RS facing, join B with sl st to bottom left corner. Ch 1. Work 1 row sc evenly along bottom edge, up back edge, along neckline and back down the other side of back edge. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Armhole edging: With RS facing, join B with sl st to any sc in Armhole. Ch 1. Work 1 rnd of sc evenly around Armhole. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.


Daisy Pockets

With A, ch 2.

1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join B with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.

3rd rnd: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. (Middle of Daisy should puff out just a little).

4th rnd: *Ch 10. 1 tr in 4th ch from hook. 1 tr in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 2 ch. 1 hdc in each of next 2 ch. 1 sc in next ch. Skip next sc. Sl st in next sc. Rep from * around. 6 petals.

5th rnd: Ch 1.Work 1 rnd sc evenly around each petal, working 3 sc in top of each petal and sl st in next sl st of previous rnd. Join with sl st to first sc.

6th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc, working 2 sc in each of 3 sc at top of each petal. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.


Assembly

Sew Daisies to bottom of dress, leaving top petal un-sewn (if desired) so it functions as a pocket. Sew buttons evenly along right side of back edge (using holes of dc on opposite side as buttonholes). String white ribbon over and under dc sts in 14th row. Tie bow in front of dress.
