Special Stitches

In knitting, special stitches add unique textures and designs to your projects. Below are two essential techniques:

Cable 3 Back (C3B)

Slip 3 knit stitches to the extra needle and hold in back of work, p1, k1, p1 from the left-hand needle, p1, k1, p1 from the extra needle.

Cable 3 Front (C3F)

Slip 3 knit stitches to the extra needle and hold in front of work, p1, k1, p1 from the left-hand needle, p1, k1, p1 from the extra needle.

Knitting Instructions

The quantity of stitches is multiple of 6 + 2 selvage stitches.

Start and finish every row with a selvage stitch.

Row Instructions

1^st row (RS): * 1 purl, 1 knit stitch, 2 purls, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl *; repeat from * to *;

2^nd row: * 1 knit stitch, 1 purl, 2 knit stitches, 1 purl, 1 knit stitch *; repeat from * to *;

3^rd row (RS): as the 1^st row;

4^th row: as the 2^nd row;

5^th row (RS): as the 1^st row;

6^th row: as the 2^nd row;

7^th row (RS): * C3B *; repeat from * to *;

8^th row: * 1 knit stitch, 1 purl, 2 knit stitches, 1 purl, 1 knit stitch *; repeat from * to *;

9^th row (RS): * 1 purl, 1 knit stitch, 2 purls, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl *; repeat from * to *;

10^th row: as the 8^th row;

11^th row (RS): as the 9^th row;

12^th row: as the 8^th row;

13^th row (RS): as the 9^th row;

14^th row: as the 8^th row;

15^th row (RS): 1 purl, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl, * C3F *; repeat from * to *, 1 purl, 1 knit stitch, 1 purl;

16^th row: * 1 knit stitch, 1 purl, 2 knit stitches, 1 purl, 1 knit stitch *; repeat from * to *.

Repeat rows 1^st to 16^th to continue your pattern.
