Stitch Quantity and Setup

The quantity of stitches is multiple 10 + 4 + 2 selvage stitches.

Row Instructions

First Row

1^st row: knit;

Even Rows

2^nd and all the even rows: follow the pattern;

Third Row

3^rd row: * 5 purls, cross 4 stitches to the left (leave 2 stitches on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 2 knit stitches, and 2 knit stitches from the auxiliary needle), 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, followed by 4 purls;

Odd Rows 5 and 7

5^th and 7^th rows: repeat instructions from the 3^rd row;

Ninth Row

9^th row: knit;

Rows 11, 13, and 15

11^th, 13^th, and 15^th rows: * cross 4 stitches to the right (leave 2 stitches on the auxiliary needle behind work, 2 knit stitches, and 2 knit stitches from the auxiliary needle), 6 purls*; repeat from * to *, then cross 4 stitches to the right.

Pattern Repetition

Repeat rows 1^st to 16^th for the desired pattern effect.
