How to Crochet an Adorable Tree

Materials Used
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colors (162) Black Coffee, (115) Hot Red and (390) Poppy Rose.
- A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
- A darning needle to weave in ends.
- Scissors.
- Thread and needle to stitch the tree together.
Size
Large Tree (Using 8 Ply Yarn & a 3mm Hook)
12.5cm wide x 13cm high or 4.75” wide x 5” high
Medium Tree (Using 4 Ply Crochet Cotton & a 1.5mm Hook)
9cm wide x 9.5cm high or 3.5” wide x 3.75” high
Small Tree (Using 2 Ply Crochet Cotton & a 1mm Hook)
6.5cm wide x 7.5cm high or 2.5” wide x 3” high
Trunk
Using (162) Black Coffee work 5 ch.
Row 1: Miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each remaining ch. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (3 sts)
Rows 3-14: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 15: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row & Branches

Using (390) Poppy Rose work 10 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 ch, 1 dc in each of the following 3 ch, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 ch, 1 sc in the last ch. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (11 sts)
Row 3: 2 ch, work 1 hdc and 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc and 1 hdc in last st. Turn. (15 sts)
Row 4: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (16 sts)
Rows 5-6: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (16 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
(2 ch, work 1 hdc in same st as ch, sl st in next st) repeat until you reach row 3, (2 ch, sl st in next st, 1 ch, sl st in following st) repeat to the end of row. Fasten off.
Medium Leaves (Make 2)
Using (115) Hot Red work 7 ch.
Row 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in each of the following 2 ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 sc in last ch. Turn. (6 sts)
Row 2: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 3: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 hdc in the next st, 1 dc in each of the following 2 sts, 1 hdc in the next st, a joined sc over the last 2 sts. Don’t turn or fasten off.
Neatening Row
(3 ch, 1 dc in same st as ch, miss 2 sts, sl st in next st) repeat to the end of the row. Fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Attach the large leaves to the 3 top branches.
Stitch the medium leaves to the next branches down each side of the trunk.
Sew the small leaves to the remaining branch.
And there’s the finished tree appliqué.
