Materials Needed
- Worsted weight yarn
- Two stitch markers
- Crochet hook (one size smaller than yarn label recommends)
- One button
Base
Chain an even number of stitches + 1, then add 6 more chains
Work into the back bumps of the chain
Round 1:
- Single crochet (sc) in the second chain from the hook
- Continue sc in each back bump across
- Place stitch marker in the first sc
- Rotate work, sc along the bottom side of the chain
- Place stitch marker in the last sc
Round 2:
- Slip stitch into the first marked stitch
- Chain 1, sc in the same stitch
- Sc in every stitch around
- Repeat Round 2 until desired pouch height is reached
Main Pattern
Optional: Change to a new color
Round 1:
- Chain 1
- (Sc, dc) in first stitch, skip next stitch — repeat around
Round 2:
- Slip stitch to join
- Chain 1, turn
- Skip first dc, slip stitch into next sc
- (Sc, dc) in same stitch — repeat around
Optional: Repeat Round 2 one more time for texture
Add a few rounds of single crochet if desired
Alternate between main pattern and sc rounds until final height is reached
Border
Optional: Change to a border color
- Sc in each stitch around for 1–2 rounds
- Slip stitch in each stitch around
- Create a seamless join
Button and Loop Closure
- Sew button on the center front of the pouch
- Create a slip knot and attach yarn to the inside back, opposite the button
- Chain a loop long enough to secure around the button
- Fasten the chain to the pouch
- Ensure the loop is tight and evenly aligned with the button
- Weave in all yarn ends securely
