Starting with Color A: Chain 4, then join with a slip stitch to the first chain to form a ring.

First Round

Chain 5 (counts as 1 double crochet and chain-2 space throughout the pattern). Create [(2 double crochet. Chain 1) twice. 2 double crochet. Chain 2. (2 double crochet. Chain 1) twice. 1 double crochet] in the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the 3rd chain of the beginning chain-5. Fasten off. This round includes 6 x 2-double crochet clusters, 4 x chain-1 spaces, and 2 x chain-2 corner spaces.

Second Round with Color B

Join yarn with a slip stitch to the first corner chain-2 space. Chain 5, then make 3 double crochet in the same chain-2 space. Chain 1. Repeat the pattern of 3 double crochet in the next chain-1 space, chain 1 twice, a corner of (3 double crochet, chain 2, 3 double crochet), and continue as established. Fasten off.

Third Round with Color C

Continue by working 1 sc in each chain across the opposite side of the foundation chain, completing the round with 2 sc in the last chain. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Total: 62 sc.

Second through Fourth Rounds

Continue with increasing sc counts as described, culminating in a simple round of 1 sc in each sc around on the fourth round. Do not fasten off after the second Body piece.

Join Body
