Cut, leaving enough wool to sew the tulip up.
Stuff the tulip with toy stuffing.
With the wool left over for sewing the tulip together, fold the tulip in half where your last stitch was and sew a couple of stitches to secure. Fold the tulip in half in the opposite direction and sew a couple of stitches so that the tulip is closed. Make a knot and thread the remaining wool down the middle of the tulip and cut. So, there are no loose wool seen.
Flower Stem
Make 1
- Row 1: Make a magic ring and crochet 6 dc (6 sts)
- Rows 2-31: dc into all 6 sts (6 sts) (30 rows)
- Row 32: dc inc into each st (12 sts)
- Row 33: (1 dc, 1 dc inc) * 6 times (18 sts)
- Row 34: (2 dc, 1 dc inc) * 6 times (24 sts)
- Row 35: (3 dc, 1 dc inc) * 6 times (30 sts)
Cut wool leaving a long piece to sew stem to tulip head.
Insert pipe cleaner into the middle of the stem; this will help with the shape and keep sturdy. Make sure both ends of the pipe cleaner have been turned in slightly to prevent the metal catching on the wool as you insert it.
Leaves
Make 2
- Start by chaining 15 sts, leave enough wool for sewing leaf to stem.
- Row 1: dc into 2nd chain from hook, dc into the next 2 sts, htr into the next 2 chains, tr into the next 4 chains, htr into the next 2 chains, dc into the next 3 chains. In the last chain, you will do a dc inc and turn. You should have 16 sts at this point.
- Working back up the opposite side: dc into the next 2 chains, htr into the next 2 chains, tr into the next 4 chains, htr into the next 2 chains, dc into the next 3 chains.
- You should have 29 sts in total.
Secure, cut wool, and weave in ends. Repeat this again so that you have 2 leaves in total. Sew the leaves evenly on the stem, making sure that the bottom of the leaf is secured tightly.
