  • Worsted weight acrylic yarn in a base color and a small scrap of a contrasting color
  • Size N (10mm) hook
  • Size I (5.5mm) hook
  • Clip to keep your place
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Instructions for Hat

Work in continuous rounds with the N hook:

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
  • Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
  • Round 7: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around - 42 st
  • Round 8: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around - 48 st
  • Round 9: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 7 sts, rep from * around - 54 st
  • Rounds 10 - 23: sc in each sc around - 54 st
  • Finish off and weave in ends

Instructions for Ears

Make 4 ears using the I hook:

  • ch 15
  • Row 1: skip ch closest to hook and sc across - 14 sts
  • Rows 2-5: sc
  • Row 6: dec 1, sc - 13 sts
  • Row 7: dec 1, sc - 12 sts
  • Row 8: dec 1, sc - 11 sts
  • Row 9: dec 1, sc - 10 sts
  • Row 10: dec 1, sc - 9 sts
  • Row 11: dec 1, sc - 8 sts
  • Row 12: dec 1, sc - 7 sts
  • Row 13: dec 1, sc - 6 sts
  • Row 14: dec 1, sc - 5 sts
  • Row 15: dec 1, sc - 4 sts
  • Row 16: dec 1, sc - 3 sts

After you are finished crocheting the ears, stitch an "angry" emote on one ear. The placement and style don't matter.

After you have stitched the emote, sc each pair of ears together (one back, one front).

Finally, fold the hat in half and place and sew the ears onto the hat.
