Instructions for Crochet Beach Bag

The beach bag is worked in continuous rounds without turning until the end of Row 7.

Creating the Base

Make a magic circle using a 5.00mm hook and Color 1. Ch3, 15dc in the circle, pull the loose yarn to close, and join with sl st to the top of ch3 at the beginning of the round. (15dc + ch3)

Rounds 2 to 7

  • Round 2: (Inc) ch3, 1dc in the base of ch3, work 2dc in each dc to the end, sl st to the top of ch3 at the beginning of the round. (31dc + ch3)
  • Round 3: (Inc) ch3, * 2dc in the next dc, 1dc in the next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 2dc in dc, sl st to the top of ch3 at the beginning of the round. (47dc + ch3)
  • Round 4: ch3, 1dc in the base of ch3, * ch2, skip 1dc, work dc2tog (see abbrev) in the next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, ch2, skip dc, sl st to the top of ch3 at the beginning of the round. (23, dc2tog, 1dc + ch3)
  • Round 5: (Inc) ch1, 1sc in the next dc, * 3sc in the next ch2 space, 1sc in dc2tog, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, work 3sc in ch2 space, sl st to the first sc at the beginning of the round. (96sc)

  • Round 9: sl st in the first ch3 space, ch3, 2dc in the same space, work 3dc in each ch3 space to the end, sl st to the top of ch3 at the beginning of the round. Turn. (32 3dc groups)
  • Round 10: ch1, 1sc in the base of ch1, * ch3, skip 3dc, 1sc in the space before the next 3dc group, * rpt from * to * to the last 2dc, ch3, skip 2dc, sl st to the first sc at the beginning of the round. Turn.
  • Round 11: sl st in the first ch3 space, ch3, 2dc in the same space, work 3dc in each ch3 space to the end, sl st to the top of ch3 at the beginning of the round. Turn.

Completing the Bag

  • Working in sc not dc's, rpt last round from ch1 four more times.

Bag Handles
