Hook US D/3.25 mm

dc: double crochet

sc: single crochet

sl: slip

Weave ends as you work.

Join each round with a sl st to the first st of the round.

Rounds

Round 1

: Ch12, join to form circle, ch1, sc 24 in center of circle, join round.

Round 2

: Ch1, *sc 2 sts, ch12*, repeat between * to end, join, sl st across 2 sc and 6 chs (so that you are at center of ch12).

Round 3

: Ch1, *sc in top of ch12 space, ch5*, repeat between * to end, join.

Round 4

: Ch1, *[3sc, ch2, 3sc] in next ch5 space* repeat between * to end, join, sl st in next 3 sts.

Round 5

: Ch1, *sc in ch2 space, ch3*, repeat between * to end, join.

Round 6

: Ch1, *[2sc, ch2, 2sc] in next ch3 space* repeat between * to end, join, sl st in next 2 sts.

Round 7

: *Ch1, sc in next ch2 space, ch10*, repeat between * to end, join. Fasten off.

Important Note

: If you are going to fill the ball, do that before closing the ball.

For Open Ball Cover

: Weave ends and decorate open loops as desired.

For Fitted Ball Cover

: Thread a tapestry needle with a long length of crochet thread, weave through each ch10 space all around and into the first ch10 space, pull tight and secure ball closed. Add a tassel or other decorative touches as desired.
