Crochet Stitch Techniques and Row Instructions

The quantity of stitches is a multiple of 2 + 1.
RND 1: In the 1st row, create a single crochet (sc) in the 3rd chain from the hook, then *double crochet (dc) in the next chain, sc in the next chain*, and repeat from * to * across to the last chain. Finish with a half double crochet (hdc) in the last chain, then turn;
RND 2: In the 2nd row, chain 2 (this counts as a hdc here and throughout), skip the 1st stitch, then *sc in the next dc, dc in the next sc*, and repeat from * to * across, ending with a hdc in the top of the turning chain. Turn your work.
Continue to repeat the instructions from the 2nd row.
