How to Crochet a Gingerbread Man: Easy Instructions for Beginners

So let’s start.

Chain 17 (ch). These 17 chains mean length of the arms, therefore if you want a bigger or smaller body just increase or decrease the number of chains. In the second loop from the hook, make a single crochet (sc) and in all loops till the end of the row. Now, you have 16 sc; make ch 1 and turn.

Tie the same thread in the 5^th loop, ch 1, 7 sc, ch1, turn. (We don’t crochet all loops till the end of the row) * In the next row, make 8 sc, ch1. Repeat from * 2 more times. Don’t cut the thread and continue crochet the left leg.

By skipping some loops, I am rounding slightly the leg of the crochet gingerbread man pattern. Cut the thread. Now tie the thread from the other side of the body and continue with the right leg using the same scheme.

Now, we are going to work with the upper side of the body. Tie the thread in the 7^th loop, make ch1, 3 sc, ch 1, turn. In the next row, make 2 sc in the first loop, 2 sc in the next 2 loops, and 2 sc in the last loop, ch1, turn. * Crochet 6 sc in the next row. Repeat from * 2 more times.
