How to Crochet an Amigurumi Toy

Materials Needed

You’ll need:

• 100% acryl yarn in dark green, light green, and brown colors;
• Crochet hook size 4;
• Safety eyes.

Instructions

Front (With Pip)

Start with brown yarn:

1. 1^st row: 5 single crochets in the Amigurumi ring;
2. 2^nd row: 5 increases (10);
3. 3^rd row: (1 increase, 1 single crochet) x 5 times (15);
4. 4^th row: (1 increase, 2 single crochets) x 5 times (20);
5. 5^th row: (1 increase, 3 single crochets) x 5 times (25);
6. 6^th-7^th rows: 25 single crochets.

Change to light green color.

8. 8^th row: through front loop (1 increase, 4 single crochets) x 5 times (30);
9. 9^th row: (1 increase, 5 single crochets) x 5 times (35);
10. 10^th row: (1 increase, 6 single crochets) x 5 times (40);
11. 11^th row: (1 increase, 7 single crochets) x 5 times (45);
12. 12^th row: (1 increase, 8 single crochets) x 5 times (50).

Fasten the yarn and cut it.

Front (Without Pip)

Light green yarn:

1. 1^st row: 5 single crochets in the Amigurumi ring;
2. 2^nd row: 5 increases (10);

You should get a pentagon; turn it so the end of work is in the lower part. Join light green yarn to the upper left corner. Start working with reversed rows from the WS.

1. 1^st row: 10 single crochets, 1 chain stitch, turn (10);
2. 2^nd-4^th rows: 10 single crochets, 1 chain stitch, turn (10);
3. 5^th row: 1 decrease, 6 single crochets, 1 decrease, 1 chain stitch, turn (8);
4. 6^th row: 8 single crochets, 1 chain stitch, turn (8);
5. 7^th row: 1 decrease, 4 single crochets, 1 decrease, 1 chain stitch, turn (6);
6. 8^th row: 6 single crochets.

Fasten around 65 single crochets, slip stitch in the 1^st stitch.

Place safety eyes between the 4^th and 5^th rows.

Back

Dark green color:

Now, fasten around 65 single crochets x 3 times (or more) in order to get a deep “cup”, slip stitch in the 1^st stitch.

Sew 2 details together with 65 single crochets with dark green yarn. Fill in with fiberfill during the work process.

Arms

Make 2:

1. 1^st row: 6 single crochets in the Amigurumi ring;
2. 2^nd row: 6 single crochets.

Fasten the yarn, leave a long tail.

Legs

Make 2:

1. 1^st row: 10 single crochets in the Amigurumi ring;
2. 2^nd-6^th rows: 10 single crochets.

Fasten the yarn, leave a long tail.

Sew the legs and arms to the body. Embroider the mouth and cheeks.
