How to Crochet Hexagon Motifs and Assemble a Crochet Bag

You’ll Need

100g of 100% cotton yarn (200m/50g);

Crochet hook 1.75;

70 cm of cord for handles.

Hexagon motif is made with crochet hook 1.75.

Hexagon Motif Instructions

Start with 8 chain sts, circle them in a ring with 1 slip st in the 1^st chain st:

1^st row: 3 chain sts increase, 23 double crochets in the ring.

Row Instructions

2^nd row: 5 chain sts, *skip 1 double crochet, 1 double crochet in the next double crochet, 2 chain sts*; repeat from * to *. Circle the ring with 1 slip st in the 3^rd chain st from the crochet hook;

3^rd row: 1 chain st, 4 single crochets in the 1^st arch, *1 single crochet in the next double crochet, 3 single crochets in the arch*; repeat from * to *. Circle the ring with 1 slip st in the 3^rd chain st from the crochet hook;

4^th row: 1 slip st in the 1^st single crochet, *8 chain sts, skip 3 single crochets, 1 slip st in the next single crochet*; repeat from * to *, finish with 4 chain sts, 1 treble crochet in the slip st from the crochet hook;

5^th row: 1 chain st, 1 single crochet in the arch, 1 chain st, 4 single crochets in the same arch, *2 single crochets closed together, 4 single crochets*; repeat from * to *, finish with 2 single crochets closed together, 3 single crochets in the same arch. Make 2 details.

Make 7 hexagon motifs (see the scheme and description above), connect them between one another in the process of work: starting from the 2^nd hexagon, replace arches of 2 chain sts at the place of connection to 1 chain st, 1 slip st in the next arch of the previous hexagon motif and 1^st chain st.

Make 6 small motifs, attach them to the detail of 7 hexagon motifs, start and finish in the arch of the hexagon motif corner.

In the loose side of each hexagon, make 1 slip st, 2 chain sts and 1 single crochet in the 1^st corner; 1 double crochet, 2 chain sts in the next 9 arches; finish with 1 single crochet in the next arch.

Flat End

Make 23 chain sts. Work with fancy pattern to 70 cm and finish your work.

Handles

Make 130 chain sts and 6 rows of single crochets. Finish your work.

Assembly

Leave 2 small patterns and 1 edge of hexagon motif from each right side, sew up 2 right-side parts with side of bag.

Fasten each right side around with 1 row of single crochets in 2 threads of yarn. You should get the quantity of single crochets multiple 6. Finish the row with 1 slip st in the 1^st single crochet in the beginning of row.

In the next circle row, make 1 chain st, 1 single crochet in the 1^st st, *1 chain st, skip 2 single crochets, 7 treble crochets in the next single crochet, 1 chain st, skip 2 single crochets, 1 single crochet in the next single crochet*; repeat from * to *, finish the row with 1 slip st in the 1^st single crochet instead of the last single crochet, finish your work.

Sew up the handles, fold them in two and insert ½ of cord.

Sew the ends of handles to each side of bag with 16 cm distance.
