Materials

925 yd/846m of #4 medium worsted weight yarn; pictured in Premier Everyday Yarn Anti-Pilling (100% acrylic, 3.5 oz/100 g, 180 yds/165m) colors: A snow white (1), B silver (2), C cream (1), D twilight blue (1), E steel (1), F chinchilla (1).

Tools

  • 5.5 mm hook (US Size I-9), or size needed to meet gauge
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape

Instructions

In Color A, to crochet a:

  • Lovey: Ch 44
  • Baby (size pictured): Ch 104
  • Receiving: Ch 132
  • Toddler: Ch 144
  • Small Throw: Ch 164
  • Large Throw: Ch 200
  • Twin: Ch 244
  • Full: Ch 296
  • Queen: Ch 332
  • King: Ch 400

Row Instructions

Row 1. Sk first ch, sc in next ch, sk 1 ch, 2 hdc in next ch, *{sk 1 ch, 2 sc in next ch, sk 1 ch, 2 hdc in next ch} rep * to the end of the row, turn. (99 sts)

Row 2. Ch 1, sc in same st, sk next stitch, 2 hdc in next st, *{sk next st, 2 sc in next st, sk next st, 2 hdc in next st} rep * to end of row, turn. (99 sts)

Rep Row 2. Continue repeating Row 2. You always work into the first stitch of each set, so you will place 2 hdc stitches in the first sc of the set. And you will place 2 single crochet stitches in the first hdc of the set. Each row will end in 2 hdc in the last stitch.

Color Changes

To achieve the same stripes as the blanket pictured: Rows 1-4 Color A.

Then change colors every 22 rows, or 7"/17.8cm, as Color B, C, D, B, and repeat as needed for length.

Finish with 4 rows in Color A.

Longer lengths will continue changing colors every 7" as needed.

Border Instructions

Change to Color F. Adds 1"/2.5cm around.

Ch 1, sc evenly around the blanket, placing a (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner, sl st to the first sc. Cut yarn and join Color E.

Ch 3, dc evenly around the blanket, placing a (dc, ch 1, dc) in each corner (the ch 1 from the last row), sl st to the first dc. Cut yarn and join Color F.

Ch 1, start with a regular sc, then work the crab stitch (reverse single crochet) around the blanket, just placing 1 crab stitch per corner.

Cut yarn and weave in ends.
