How to Crochet a 7” x 84” Scarf

Size

7” wide x 84” long after blocking (including fringe)

You'll Need

• 1 skein or ball of Fingering weight yarn approx 100g/400m
• Hook E 4 (3.5 mm)

Special Stitches

• Shell – (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in indicated stitch

Notes

• Beginning ch 4 counts as (1 dc, ch 1) throughout.
• Scarf uses a 2-row repeat for pattern.

Pattern Instructions

Ch 44.

Row 1

: Dc in 6th ch from hook (counts as dc, ch 1, dc), ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch, *skip next 3 ch, Shell (see special stitches) in next ch, skip next 3 ch, (dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next ch) twice, dc in next ch; rep from * across, ending with dc in last ch, turn. (3 Shells, 12 dc)

Row 2

: Ch 4 (counts as 1dc, ch 1 here and throughout), dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, *ch 3, skip next 3 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch-2 sp of next Shell, ch 3, skip next 3 dc, (dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp) twice, dc in next dc; rep from * across, ending with dc in 2nd ch of beg ch-6, turn. (12 dc, 6 sc)

Row 3

: Ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, *skip next ch-3 sp, Shell in next ch-3 sp, skip next ch-3 sp, (dc in next dc, ch 1) twice, dc in next dc; rep from * across, ending with dc in 3rd ch of beg ch-4, turn. (3 Shells, 12 dc)

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until you reach the length you want or run out of yarn. But make sure you leave a few meters for a fringe!

Make one final row to straighten the edge.

Final Row
