Hi, I'm Kayla. I am very new at crocheting and I want to get the basic downs first. If there's any techniques or tools I need to be able to do so please let me know. I've provided a pic of a magic ring/circle I've down about 100 times already. I feel it's too tight and that I'm not holding the hook/needle right or my hand placement is off. I've ordered some things (Finger ring yarn holder and better crocheting hooks/needles). I would like to start of with making a basic beanie. But I want to have the basics down first. I have a bunch of yarn and materials. Any tips would be very much appreciated! Beginner of Beginners

Hi Kayla, You should look and see if there are any groups in your area that do crocheting.  I belong to one at my senior center.  I have some knowledge on crocheting..

Also there are books that you can find at your local library  and crochet magazines  that i buy at my local book store.

Pull apart from your hook to keep your loop from coming apart. Hold the stitches you made and the other piece of yarn (the tail). Pull the tail and the stitches to combine the circle that you see. I have used up to 8 single crochet stitches to make a manic loop. I am not sure about your pattern but you're picture shows a lot of stitches. Best of luck to you and keep up your determination!
