Super Fine (baby) weight yarn: 1 1/2 (1 3/4, 2) oz [225 (263, 300) yds, 45 (52, 60)g] each, yellow and pink
Embroidery floss: Small amount of orange and black
Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Small amount of polyester fiberfill
Tapestry needle

Pattern Stitch

Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc): Yo, insert hook from front to back to front around the post of st indicated, draw lp through, (Yo and draw through 2 lps on hook) twice.

Baby Ducks
Slipper (make 2)
With yellow, ch 28 (32, 34); join to form a ring-ankle opening made.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 12 (14, 16)-instep made; sc in 2nd ch from hook, (dc in next ch, sc in next ch) 5 (6, 7) times; working around beg ch, (dc in next ch, sc in next ch) 14 (16, 17) times; working on opposite side in unused lps of instep ch, (dc in next ch, sc in next ch) 5 (6, 7) times; dc in last ch. 52 (58, 64 sts) Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first dc; * dc in next sc, sc in next dc; rep from * across to last st; dc in last st. Turn.

Rows 3-13: Rep Row 2
With WS facing you, fold Row 13 in half.
Row 14: Ch 1, working through both thicknesses, sl st in next 25 (29, 32) sts. Finish off.
Weave strand of yellow through ends of rows at toe, pull tightly to gather opening closed. Secure ends. Turn slipper RS out.

Ankle Ribbing

Join yellow in opposite side of beg ch at center back.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 3, (counts as a dc on this and following rnds), dc in each rem ch; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. 28 (32, 34) dc
Rnd 2: Ch 3, fpdc (see Pattern Stitch) around each dc; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, fpdc around each st; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Finish off and weave in ends.

Face (make 2)

Note: Face is worked in continuous rnds; do not join. Mark beg of rnds.
With yellow, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): In 2nd ch from hook work (sc, dc) 3 times. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: In each st work (sc, dc). (12 sts)
Rnd 3: * Sc in next st, in next st work (dc, sc), dc in next st, in next st work (sc, dc); rep from * around. (18 sts)
Rnd 4: (Dc in next st, sc in next st) around.
Rnd 5: Sc in back lp of next st, working through both lps of rem sts, dc in next st, (sc in next st, dc in next st) rep around. (18 sts)
Note: For sc dec, draw up lp in next 2 sc, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook.
Rnd 6: [Dc in next st, sc dec] 6 times; join in first dc.
Finish off, leaving an 8-inch end. Weave in other end.

Beak

Join orange embroidery floss in unused front lp of first dc on Rnd 4; ch 1, in same lp work (sc, ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, sc).
Finish off and weave in ends.

Wing (make 4)
With yellow, ch 11.
Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, (sc in next ch, dc in next ch) 4 times. (10 sts) Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next st, (sc in next st, dc in next st) 3 times. (8 sts) Turn, leaving rem sts unworked.
Row 3: Sl st in first 2 sts, ch 1, (sc in next st, dc in next st) 3 times. Finish off, leaving an 8-inch end. Weave in other end.

Finishing

Step 1: With black embroidery floss, embroider eyes on face with French knots (see Figure 1).

Crochet Baby Animal Slippers

Step 2: Stuff face lightly with polyester fiberfill and sew to slipper above Row 1.
Step 3: Hold Row 3 of one wing near Row 8 of slipper; sew to side of slipper along straight edge of rows and opposite side of beg ch. Sew second wing to opposite side.

Baby Piggies

Slipper (make 2)
With pink, work same as Baby Ducks through Rnd 3 of Ankle Ribbing.

Face (make 2)

Note: Face is worked in continuous rnds; do not join. Mark beg of rnds.

With pink, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Working in back lps only, sc in each sc.
Rnd 3: Working in back lps only, 2 sc in each sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 4: Working through both lps, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 6 times. (18 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc.

Rnd 6: Working in back lps only, in next sc work (sl st, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, ch 2, sl st); sl st in next 2 sc, in next sc work (sl st, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, ch 2, sl st); working through both lps, [sc in next sc, sc dec (see Note)] 6 times; working in back lps only of first 4 sc of this rnd behind ears, sl st each sc. Tail (make 2)

With pink, ch 15; 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch.
Finish off, leaving an 8-inch end. Weave in other end.

Finishing

Step 1: With black embroidery floss, embroider eyes on face above snout working a French knot (see Figure 1) for each eye.
Step 2: Stuff face lightly with polyester fiberfill and sew to slipper above Row 1.

Step 3: Sew tail to center back of each slipper just below ankle ribbing.
