  • Rnd 4: work this rnd behind the sl sts, into rnd 2, sc in each st around; 9 sts
  • Rnds 5-9: sc in each st around; 9 sts

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave in all ends except for your last tail. Sew into the ch 3 spaces to each side of the head, creating finger holes for the puppet.

Mane (in B)

Ch 36, and sl st to the first ch to join, forming a ring.

  • Rnd 1: ch 1, sc into same ch as joining sl st, 3 dc in next ch, sc in next ch, (sc in next ch, 3 dc in next ch, sc in next ch) 11x; 60 sts

Fasten off, leaving a very long tail for sewing. Sew the mane around the head.

Snout (in A)

  • Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring; 6 sts
  • Rnd 2: sc in next 2 sts, 3 sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts; 10 sts

Fasten off the first one. On the second circle, connect to the first circle.

  • Rnd 3: join with a sc to the first st of the last rnd on the first circle. Sc around both circles together, sl st in the first st to join; 20 sts

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Before sewing, use one of your tails to sew the space between the circles closed. Then, using your black yarn, sew a triangle at the top center, between the two circles, and fill that in for the nose. Then sew a line straight down from there toward the bottom of the snout. Sew the snout to the lower center of the face, above the bottom of the mane.
